MinecruftPT encodes circumvention traffic steganographically inside the Minecraft
Java Edition network protocol, making a censored connection appear to a network
observer as an ordinary online Minecraft game session. The cover channel is a
high-volume, varied-packet-size TCP protocol with a large and active user population,
making statistical fingerprinting harder than for lower-volume cover protocols.

Implications
Gaming protocols are a viable and under-explored cover channel: they carry high traffic volumes with complex, varied packet patterns that are harder to model for a statistical classifier than simpler protocols like HTTP or DNS.
When selecting a cover protocol, prefer ones with large existing user populations and high per-session bandwidth variability — both raise the false-positive cost of blocking for the censor.
